---------------World History---------------

Vi's world is much like our own, set in modern times with everyone going about their life in the same ways. For the most part anything that could be considered fantasy is merely a story to be told. Hardly anyone believes in the supernatural but that isn't exactly true. On another plane existed another world, one that held creatures known as fae. While others have sometimes caught glimpses of these otherworldly creatures, not many know that they truly exist. Humans are skeptical at best or simply claim any sightings of the fae as an active imagination or perhaps merely a mental instability. However, these people who can see the fae aren't exactly normal. Perhaps they have a bit of fae blood running through their veins or maybe even just a special sixth sense that allowed them to see through the veil. It merely depends on how strong or how thick their blood is to how much they might see.

Fae are beautiful creatures by any species standards. Their appearances are something that draw in ordinary individuals, make them more appealing. Yet the fae are extremely dangerous. Most seem to believe that humans are beneath them and tend to stick to their own world. There are few who can slip between the worlds, both humans and fae alike. Sometimes when a human goes missing, it isn't that they've been killed or anything so ordinary - sometimes they've fallen through the cracks between the worlds and ended up in the world of the fae. There may even be cases of fae kidnapping a human for some reason or another and taking them back to their world.

While Earth may be relatively normal, the world of the fae is anything but ordinary. Where humans have demolished forests and ruined ecosystems, the fae have allowed the earth to grow wild. Trees, plants and wildlife are in abundance and can be considered dangerous as they have soaked up the magic of the fae and have been transformed due to it. The flora may attack to survive and animals have become resistant to various magicks or have become more deadly. Either way both are far more sentient than anything that could be comparable on Earth. On Earth sometimes people would catch glimpses of the fae and their world but this ability is more readily available from the other side. Reflective surfaces are the easiest to see what's going on with Earth, though it would take some sort power or magic in order to see what the viewer actually wanted to see and not some random scene. There are occasions of seeing ghost-like figures wandering through the world, all of them humans who typically don't take notice that there may be someone standing right in front of them simply because they can't see through the veil. Sometimes people on Earth may equate this feeling to there being a ghost haunting them.

Then there is the fae themselves, two sides constantly at war with each other. Neither side is just good or bad but the conflict has been ongoing for hundreds of years. Fae are long-lived creatures and the fighting has been happening for at least three generations. Both sides stay evenly matches, never being able to wipe the other out but always trying to collect more power. This is why they kidnap humans from their sister world, nabbing those who potentially have the ability to give them the power they need to eliminate their enemies. On rare occasions they do it for something other than the power and it's because they've fallen in love with the human.

---------------Vi's History---------------

Vi was abandoned from the instant she was born and placed within the system immediately. Her own mother hadn't given her a name before they were separated and so the people taking care of her named her Julia. Several months after her birth she was adopted by Darien and Renato Kerrigan, two happily married men who lived in the heart of New York City. They lived in a brownstone house and had wanted a child for years so when Julia came along, they started the process immediately. They renamed her Juliette Viola Kerrigan and she grew up in a warm, loving home with parents and family who loved her dearly. She was encouraged to do what she loved and found a place in music. Both of her dads were musicians and often played for her, teaching her various instruments as she got older. Around the age of eight she took up a wide variety of activities such as ballet, soccer and karate but it left her with an extremely overbooked schedule so she cut it down to just sticking with karate outside of her music lessons. It was at karate when Vi met her best friend, Rachel Douglass, and learned that they went to the same school. After that the rest was history and the two of them have been close every since.

In the eighth grade, one of her fathers (Darien) had shown up to pull her from her classes to inform her that her other father had been in a car accident and was at the hospital. He'd suffered a head injury and had a broken wrist and Vi spent a lot of her free time helping him when he needed it and playing for him whenever possible. It was around this time when Vi had her first encounter with a fae, having gone to the convenience store and there were a couple of individuals who were absolutely stunning to look at where one killed the other with magic. However, no one else seemed to be able to see them and after a few short seconds, they had disappeared. She didn't realize what had happened until years later when she learned about the fae world. The police had merely chalked her words as her having an active imagination. Any futher "encounters" with the fae were not nearly as noticeable but every now and then Vi would see short glimpses of the beautiful creatures.

By the time she hit high school, she'd taken to going by the nickname Vi with her friends and was obsessed with the violin. While she still practiced with other instruments, the violin was what she played most. She took to even composing her own music. Growing up with same sex parents, she was open to all sorts of relationships in high school - dating both males and females though neither lasted long. During the summer after her junior year, they took a family trip to Italy to see where her father Renata had grown up and meet some of the family that were still living there. She decided then and there that she'd return there one day and live there for a few years.

All through high school, Vi had known that she wanted to go to Julliard as her choice of college and worked hard towards that. Which is exactly what happened, she was accepted into the music program and began to take classes that would allow her to both play and compose music. During the summer before college she did get a job working at a small-business coffee shop near the school. While she does technically know how to drive, Vi sticks to traveling via the subway station and does own a vespa for going other places when the weather is nice. It was the spring of her freshman year when Vi was going home after working an evening shift when something strange happened. There was a scuffle coming from an alley that she walked passed all of the time and Vi went towards it to see if she could help somehow. What she came across was a teenager being roughly handled by a pair of much larger individuals.

It happened in the blink of an eye, Vi was reaching for the teen boy's arm after he'd been shoved and they fell... into another world. More of the beautiful creatures were there waiting and pointing extremely strange-looking objects at them. There was a mad scramble of something bright and definitely dangerous exploding around them. Vi was throwing kicks and punches while the boy was literally throwing eggs and other various groceries. It was enough chaos that the pair of them managed to slip into the forest at their back and lose their would-be attackers. Once they were sure they were relatively safe, the boy introduced himself as Keelan and neither of them knew what was going on. All they knew is that they were in serious trouble together and they couldn't even call the cops.

The next few days were a giant mess, what with the strange people after them and as they attempted to survive the magical forest. Neither of them could deny that it was magical either when one of the trees attacked them for stripping bark and snapping off branches in order to make a fire.
